Robert "Bob" D. Dobbins Jr

Robert “Bob” D. Dobbins Jr, age 75 of Grand Island, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at home with his loving wife by his side. Celebration of life will be held Tuesday, November 14th at 11am at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, November 13th from 4-6pm at the funeral home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials suggested to the ALS Association (www.als.org). Condolences can be left at www.giallfaiths.com. Robert “Bob” was born June 27, 1948 to Robert Sr. and Zona (Bills) Dobbins in Cameron, MO. He moved from MO to KS at a young age and lived in McPherson, KS where he attended grade school and some of junior high. He moved to Canton, KS in the middle of his 8th grade year. There he lived with his grandma “Nan” (Lorene) and grandpa Roy Dobbins for several years. He graduated from Canton High School in 1967. He was active in football and track and enjoyed his years in Canton. Robert was drafted into the Army in 1967. He served in Vietnam for one year from May of 1968 to 1969. Robert married Kathy Edgerly in 1970 and they had two children, Michael and Angela. Bob Fondly said that his best year was 2009, when he married Jennifer Olson. They met on the internet while he had a free month on a dating website in 2008. They lived two years in Galva, KS. He retired shortly after they married, having put in 33 years at Atco where he was a welder. When he retired, they decided to move to Grand Island. They took their favorite vacation and honeymoon to Yellowstone National Park. They continued to travel to several places and went on many cruises. He was an avid golfer and loved the game especially when playing at the senior league with friends. Bob and his good friend, Dave Roach both got their 1st hole in one at the Hillsboro Golf Course in KS. Bob was a member of the Platt-Duetsche, Saddle Club, St. Stephens Episcopal Church and the United Veterans Club in Grand Island. He is survived by wife, Jennifer “Jenny” Dobbins of Grand Island; sisters, Sharon Pankratz and Iona Likins both of McPherson, KS; brother, Tod (Angie) Emerson of McPherson, KS; sons, Michael Dobbins of Chanute, KS and Monte Harner of Lincoln, NE; daughters, Angela (Scott) Starkey of El Dorado, KS and Michelle (Jeff) Coffey of Grand Island; grandchildren, Kylee Dobbins, Brynn Dobbins, Jace Dobbins, Tyler Sader and Jeffrey Harner. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Roy and Loraine (Nana); mother, Zona (Bills) Emerson; father, Robert Dobbins Sr; stepfather, John Emerson; brother, Buddy Dobbins; infant brother, Ricky Dobbins and grandson, Harrison Harner.
