Robert Dean Niemann

Robert was born on June 7, 1949 to Elden (Dick) and Leona Niemann in York, NE. Robert attended Utica High School. After high school Robert attended tech school in Omaha. He was married to Marilyn Vogler on June 19, 1971, and together they shared many years of partnership, family, and memories. Robert took great pride in his role as a husband, father, grandfather. Robert found a home at Fleming Foods of Lincoln and worked there as a data processing manager for 28 years. After moving with Marilyn to Surprise, AZ he worked for Manheim Phoenix Auto Auction in data management for 15 years. Robert often worked a second job which included baseball umpire and volleyball referee for Lincoln City Parks and Rec. For several years, he volunteered with the Surprise Sundancers for Royals Spring Training games and St. Mary’s Food Bank in Surprise, AZ. Robert enjoyed traditional country music, singing in the church choir, and putting puzzles together. Robert was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He was a fan of the Lincoln Saltdogs and the Royals along with all Husker Sports. He was a regular at the Nebraska boys basketball tournaments for several years. He loved following his grandchildren’s activities often traveling to see them play or perform. He and Marilyn took many day trips around Nebraska and Arizona searching for antique stores and auctions seeking Redwing Crocks among other antiques. Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years Marilyn, his children Brigen (Travis) Kinnison, Megan Schardt, Kyle Niemann, and Aaron Schardt. Grandchildren Gretta Kinnison, Matthew Kinnison, Adelle Kinnison, Henry Schardt, Ruby Schardt and Amelya Schardt, his brother and sisters-in-law Roger and Patty Niemann and Jeanette Niemann, brothers-in-law, Larry (Kathleen) Vogler and Galen Vogler, and many relatives and friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents Elden (Dick) and Leona Niemann, brother, Larry Niemann, and parents-in-law, Harold and Kathryn Vogler. Visitation with the family will be at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island NE on January 23rd from 5-7 pm. The celebration of life will be on January 24th at 10:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church. The interment will be at Utica Cemetery at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to American Liver Association, Peace Lutheran Church or Live On Nebraska in honor of Robert’s life and legacy. Robert’s life was extended by a generous organ donor almost 12 years ago and we ask that you consider becoming an organ donor. We encourage you to wear a polo shirt in any color, as that was his favorite thing to wear.
