Rogene Klein

Rogene H. Klein, 90, of Grand Island, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at CHI-Health St. Francis Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Visitation will be held the hour prior. Pastor Bill Pavuk will officiate. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or St. Jude’s Hospital. Rogene was born on September 16, 1935, in Merna, NE, daughter of Ivan and Martha (Edwards) Johns. She was raised north of Kearney in area towns until her graduation from high school. Rogene earned her master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Counseling and Elementary Administration. Rogene was married to Larry Klein on December 12, 1954. They made their home on the family farm in Pleasanton for the first ten years before settling in Grand Island. Rogene began her over 40 year career in Education teaching in a rural schoolhouse. When her family moved to Grand Island, Rogene began teaching in Grand Island Public School elementary classroom. With her own learning she changed to education consultation before helping the kids of Grand Island elementary schools as a counselor. When Rogene retired, in her 70s, she began volunteering in her daughter's classroom for the next ten years. Rogene was an educator and loved to guide the young children to reach their goals. Rogene was raised knowing the value of hard work and had a strong sense of how things should be done. She had an eye for shoes and had an extensive collection. She loved to go dancing with Larry and took time to look her best. Rogene was her granddaughter’s biggest cheerleader and never missed an activity or chance to support her. Rogene was steadfast in her faith and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She adored her dogs especially her last dog, Shane, and loved her daughter’s dog, Bozley. Her devotion to caring for her family and children she taught will be missed. Rogene’s memory is cherished by her daughter, Erin (Mike) Lahowetz of Grand Island; granddaughter, Ariel (Sonny) Dineen of Plattesmouth, NE; brother, Ron (Chris) Johns of FL; nieces, Sharon (Marc) Poulin, Karen Ezell, and nephew, Keith (Ellen) Johns; numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; son, Brent Klein and parents.
