Rosalind Marie Fenton

Rosalind Marie (Hites) Fenton, 88, of Grand Island passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 14, 2023. To honor her wishes, cremation was chosen and there will be no services at this time. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are designated to the family. Rosalind was born on June 22, 1935 at Lima, Ohio, daughter of Homer and Margaret (Baker) Hites. She graduated from Lima South High School. While in high school she worked at the local A&W as a roller-skating waitress. She also babysat for several families, and met Donald Fenton an uncle-in-law of the children she was watching. On March 30, 1954 they were married in Indianola, Indiana and made their home in Lima the first year. While living in Lima, Rosalind was employed as the bookkeeper for Kays Jewelry. The young couple soon moved to Don’s hometown and settled in North Loup where Rosalind cared for the two children and the home. Soon the family moved to Grand Island, Rosalind resumed bookkeeping for Bartenbach and more recently, Diamond Vogel. She was also known for selling Avon. Rosalind was hard working and energetic. She loved to play all sports and was still playing softball into her 60s. She was a part of whatever game her kids were playing. Rosalind was known for her holiday meals being large enough for the whole block to attend. She was extremely active and loved to play cards, Gin Rummy being a favorite with her family. Rosalind also completed puzzles and enjoyed word searches. Rosalind was a long-time member of the United Congregational Church before it was on Bismark and volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher for over 35 years. Her servants’ heart was present in all she did for her family and friends. Her caring yet feisty love will be missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Donald F. Fenton of Grand Island; daughter, Cindy (Don) Houdek of Chapman; grandchildren, Ryan and children Ellie, Asher, and Isaac, Tanner, Kirk (Danielle) Lyons and children, Keegan, Kobe, Kaden, Jared, Destyne, and Sidney; Kelsey (Eric) Hinrichsen and children, Collins and Sheridan; Ashley and grand-cats; numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald E. Fenton; grandson, Brandon Fenton; brother, Homer Jr.; sisters, Alice, Rhea, and Pat.
