Ruby A. Myers

Ruby A. Myers, age 83, of Grand Island, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at CHI St. Francis Medical Center with her loving granddaughter Baylie by her side. She is now free from the pain and suffering she endured during her courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy for many years. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, June 25th at 11am at All Faiths Funeral Home with Dan Naranjo officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences can be left at www.giallfaiths.com. Ruby was born on January 15, 1941 in Wahoo, NE to Arlene Priestley. Growing up she spent a lot of time with her grandparents, Daniel Lawrence “DL” and Pansy Priestley, whom she loved dearly. She played the trombone in school, and learned to appreciate music from her grandpa, who was a band and orchestra director. Another favorite memory from her childhood included finding wild horses to climb atop and ride through the fields with her brother, Lawrence. On November 2, 1957 she was united in marriage to Jerald “Jerry” Myers. They were married in Long Beach, CA where he was serving in the Navy. To this union four children were born. Ruby attended cosmetology school in Hastings. She worked as a hairdresser as well as several other jobs while raising her children. She was a jack of all trades, and learned many things while selling insurance, working at Fonner Park, Goodrich Dairy, and as a hotel front desk clerk. Ruby was a very talented cook and baker. She could whip up a delicious meal with few ingredients and was the best hostess for holiday meals. Ruby was also known for her gift-wrapping abilities and even worked over the holiday season at different stores wrapping presents. Ruby was a true caregiver and loved providing for her family. Being a mother and grandmother were the highlights of her life. There were always extra children around her house, as she was willing to take anyone in and treat them as her own. Anyone who knew her was truly fortunate as she was a genuinely loving and caring person. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 66 years, Jerry; children, Laurie (Jim) Knouse of Grand Island, Randy (Lori) Myers of Minden and Michele Larson of Central City; grandchildren, Baylie Knouse, Emily Young, Jacob Myers, Jackson Myers, Jordon Notary, Rece Larson, Riley Larson, Adam Myers, Taylor Riggins and Autumn Miller; numerous great grandchildren and a very spoiled cat, Winston. Ruby was preceded in death by her grandparents; mother; son, Jamie; brothers, Lawrence Lindhardt, Lynn Hornfeld, and Paul Harris; and sister, Beverly Myers.
