Sandra L Collins

Sandra L. Collins, 75, of North Platte, formerly of Grand Island passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Linden Court in North Platte. Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 8, 2024 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Pastor Matt Waitley will officiate. Visitation of friends and family will begin at 12:00 PM. Burial at the Fullerton Cemetery will follow at a later date. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the family. Sandra was born on September 13, 1948 in Grand Island, daughter of Jim and Laurella (Boren) McHugh. She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1966. After chasing each other for six years, Sandra married David Collins on January 26, 1974 at the Grand Island Court House. After marriage, they were blessed with two sons and made their home in Grand Island. This past January, they celebrated 50 years of loving, laughing, and being ornery as Mr. & Mrs. Out of High School, she was employed by the Grand Island Response Unit and later worked at Meadow Gold Dairy, Country General, Principal Financial, and Bullet Weights Inc. in Alda where she then retired in 2013 to care for her health and spend time with her family. Sandra is remembered as being a passionate employee, and a friend to all she worked with. Sandra was a member of the first traveling softball team in Grand Island, the Roadrunners. Sandra played outfield and backup pitcher and was later joined on the team by her sister. Sandra loved to ride horses, her favorite gelding and second love of her life, Dans Dandy. She was an avid reader, word searcher and fan of Days of Our Lives. Sandra adored her grandchildren more than anything and doted on them every day. Sandra is survived by her husband, David of Ogallala; sons Daniel (Stacy) Collins of North Platte, and Dustin (Katie) Collins of Grand Island; grandchildren, Karry (Riley) Riese, Lance, Lathyn, Bre (Randy) Jardine, Kirsten, Kortnie, Maddisyn, Bryten, and Della; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Jim (Marilyn) McHugh, Tom (Patricia) McHugh and Galen McHugh; sister, Gloria McHugh; sister-in-law, Donna Collins of Burwell; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
