Stephen 'Steve' E. Hansen

Stephen ‘Steve’ E. Hansen, 89 of Grand Island went to his Heavenly home peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Rev. April Wegehaupt will officiate. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to The Steve and Judy Hansen Charitable Fund at The Greater Grand Island Community Foundation. Steve was born on June 26, 1936 in Holstein, IA, son of Wilbur and Jeanette (Ellington) Hansen. Following his father’s death while Steve was a small child, the family moved to Grand Island. Steve was a Grand Island Senior High Graduate with the class of 1954 and earned his business degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, in 1959. On December 6, 1963 he married Judy Leep. They made their home in Grand Island and raised their family. Out of college, Steve joined the truck division of International Harvester as an area sales manager and in 1973 he purchased the Grand Island branch. Hansen International Truck was established in December of 1973. He retired in 1999 with his son, Stephen taking over the company. Steve was a member and served as the president of both the Hall County Livestock Association (Fonner Park) and Riverside Golf Club. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Nebraska Golf Association (NGA). Upon retirement, he became a member of the Platte Duestche, where daily he could be found playing cards and having drinks with some of his best friends. When Steve wasn’t golfing and playing cards, he was attending family events. He loved all the grandkid birthdays, golf tournaments and holidays. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy Hansen; children, Julie (Tim) Johnson of Broken Bow, and Stephen P. (Kelly) Hansen of Grand Island; grandchildren, Taylor (Josh) Arnold, Tanner Johnson, Abbey Hansen and Kenzie Hansen; great-granddaughters, Anniston, Tilly and Leni Arnold; many nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather who raised him, Howard Stearns; sister, Diane Iacoponelli; step siblings, Dorcas Stearns, Barbara Huston, and Janet Traill.
