Vincent Paul Muchow

Vincent Paul Muchow October 16, 1959 – August 22, 2024 It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Vincent Paul Muchow on August 22, 2024. Born in Grand Island, Nebraska, on October 16, 1959, Vince was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Vince graduated from Kearney State Teachers’ College; and worked for a number of years at Richard Young Hospital in Kearney. Vince dedicated his life to education, spending countless years as a Physical Education teacher in Louisville, Kentucky. He taught at St. Barnabas, St. James, Holy Family, and most recently at St. Albert the Great, from which he retired at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. His students and coworkers held a special place in his heart, and he took pride in helping shape the lives of those he taught. Outside of work, Vince was an avid traveler, creating lasting memories with his sister Barb on trips to Montana, Yellowstone National Park (his favorite), and Florida. He also shared adventures with his close friends, cherishing the joys of camping and exploration. A devoted fan of Nebraska football, Vince spent every fall reveling in the excitement of college football season. He loved all things Nebraska and proudly supported his home state. Vince was known for his kind spirit and never taking life too seriously. He had a flair for fun, often dressing for the occasion with crazy sunglasses or wacky hats, ready to celebrate any event, big or small. His zest for life and sense of humor brightened the lives of those around him. A compassionate community member, Vince participated in several mission trips, always eager to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of others. His generosity and love for his community will not be forgotten. Vince is survived by his sister, Barbara Stockhausen (née Muchow); and her children, Lauren (Jordan) Gilmore of Salisbury, MD; Edward Stockhausen of Cleveland, OH; and Marc Stockhausen of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his brother, William (Bill) Muchow; and his children, Tara (Aaron Jones) Muchow and her children, Colby, Casey, and Caleb of Las Vegas, NV; Geoffrey Muchow of Grand Island, NE; and Amanda Rood (née Muchow) (husband, Jon) and her children, Kinleigh and Jaxon of Kearney, NE. Vince leaves many close friends in Louisville, KY, and Grand Island, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, Therese A. and Marvin L. Muchow, and his nephew, Jonathan Muchow. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 3:30 p.m., at Blessed Sacrament Church, 518 State St, Grand Island, NE 68801. A short reception will follow; light refreshments.
