Alice Bartlett

Alice Bartlett of Grand Island, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Peace Lutheran Church at 10 am, with a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Justin Bangert officiating. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery following the service. In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Central Nebraska Lutheran School Foundation or Lutheran Hour Ministries in memory of Alice. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences can be left at www.giallfaiths.com. Alice was born on May 3, 1928, in the rolling hills south of Ord, Nebraska. She grew up surrounded by family, faith, and the strong rural values that shaped her entire life. The daughter of Arthur and Clara (Plejdrup) Lange. She began her education at St. John’s Parochial School in Ord before attending Scotia High School, where she graduated in 1945. After high school, she began her professional life at Bredthauer Motor, where she worked for seven years. Her career then led her to Grand Island, where she joined Northwestern Bell. Over the next 25 years, she became a respected and steady presence in the company, as a trusted manager, known for her dedication and professionalism. Her leadership extended far beyond her workplace. She became the first woman ever elected to the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce, serving for 10 years and helping shape the city’s business community. Her lifelong commitment to service was most visible through her 59 years in Altrusa International, where she served as Local President, National President, and ultimately International President. Her work with Altrusa took her across the world, building connections, supporting literacy, and championing community service. She also served as President of the Nebraska Extension Clubs, further demonstrating her passion for strengthening communities and supporting women’s leadership. Her global outlook extended to hosting and supporting foreign exchange students, including students from and participating in a mission trip to Russia, where she continued her lifelong pattern of service and cultural exchange. Faith was a cornerstone of her life. She taught Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran, helped start a preschool at St. John’s in Ord, and sang in the choirs of St. John’s of Ord, Zion Lutheran in Scotia, Trinity Lutheran, and Grace Lutheran in Grand Island. She faithfully served on the Heartland Lutheran School Foundation. Music, ministry, and education were threads woven through every chapter of her life. Alice made sure good happened wherever she went. She also worked closely with Mosaic in Grand Island, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and advocating. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Gerald Beck; stepson, Darryl Bartlett; sister, Margaret (Lange)Kling. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins both at home and abroad. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Bartlett; children, Marilyn Sok and Marcia Beck; siblings, Robert Lange, Rhoda (Lange) Grauer, Clarence Lange, Merna (Lange)Wood; sister-in-law, Virginia Lange; stepson, Tim Bartlett, and former spouse, Harrison Beck.
