Darrin Lee Obermiller

Darrin L. Obermiller, 43, of Grand Island died on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Teresa Mason will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Darrin was born February 27, 1972 in Grand Island to Jim and Beth (Moffett) Obermiller. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jennifer and daughter, Alayna; parents; sisters, Dr. Jama Obermiller (Adam Miller) of Grand Island and Anne Obermiller of Grand Island; parents-in-law, Vaughn and LaNae Minton of Grand Island; sister and brother-in-law, Crystle and Doug McCarty of Kearney and brother-in-law, Patrick Minton of Cincinnati; many aunts, uncles and cousins; beloved nieces and nephews, Emery, Barret, Cutler, Austin, Addison, Cora, Daniel, Kaleb, Felicity, Katherine and Amber; and his four-legged pal, Hank. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emil and Anna Obermiller and LeRoy “Pete” and Betty Moffett; Ron Diercks; Gaylord, Delvin, Donald and Paul Obermiller; Darlene and Gerald Eilenstine. Darrin, known by his closest friends as “Obes” grew up and attended school in Grand Island, graduating from Northwest High School, Class of 1990. He graduated from University of Nebraska at Kearney with a Bachelor of Science in 1996 and a Master of Science in 2000. While attending UNK he was a loyal member of the Pi Kappa Alpha “Pike” fraternity. He was united in marriage to Jennifer Minton on June 18, 2005 at Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and an avid member of the HealthPlex Fitness Center where he socialized daily with many friends. Darrin lived every day of his life to the fullest. His life centered around his family and friends. Darrin was a stay at home dad to Alayna, and a daily father figure to his nieces and nephew Emery, Barret and Cutler. As he fought every day to live with cystic fibrosis, Darrin never took anything or anyone for granted. He enjoyed hunting with both his father and best friend Chad Scheer. He was a true Husker fan and always looked forward to football season. He also enjoyed fishing and the thrill of roller coasters. His family will remember Darrin as their support and their ‘rock’. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
