Daryll Lynn Thavenet

Daryll Lynn Thavenet, age 87, died on April 19, 2026 in Grand Island, Nebraska. He was born on August 31, 1938 to Arthur and Grace (Karle) Thavenet of Grand Island, NE. Daryll attended Stolley Park Elementary School and graduated from Grand Island Senior High, Class of 1956. He then served in the United States Navy. Following an honorable discharge from the United States Navy, he attended Milford School of Electronic graduating with a degree in electronics. He married Shirley Ann Ganow on June 2, 1962. Daryll became employed with NCR Corporation in 1962 serving in Ohio, Colorado and Nebraska retiring after 31 years of service. He then became a realtor with Century 21from May 1994 to August 1998. Daryll and Shirley then relocated to Lake of the Ozarks where he became employed by Hydro Systems Boat Lift Company. In August 2008, they returned to Grand Island to live out their retirement years and to be close to their grandchildren. Daryll belonged to the Grand Island Saddle Club, Knights of Columbus, Eagles FOE, American Legion, Platt-Duetsche, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He loved boating, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs, Amber and Ginger. Daryll is survived by his wife, Shirley. Brother, Earle Thavenet, Roseville, CA. Children: Brad and Sherry Thavenet, Rogers, AR; Lisa (Thavenet) and John Webb, Grand Island, NE; Brian and Michelle Thavenet, Lincoln, NE; Lori (Thavenet) and Scott Thesenvitz, Wood River, NE. Grandchildren: Zach Thavenet, Alyssa (Thavenet) and Tim Schaareman, Alex and Fallon Webb, Lauren (Webb) and Cole Leaman, Harrison Webb and Anna McLain (fiancée), Leighton Webb, Jared and Noelle Thavenet, Sarah (Thavenet) and Christian Harris, Emily Thavenet, Allison Thavenet, Kaitlyn (Thesenvitz) and Garison Fisher, Madison Thesenvitz and Bryce Smyth (fiancé), Jace Thesenvitz. Great grandchildren: Boston Schaareman, Kip Leaman, Scottie Leaman and Emery Fisher. Numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents (Arthur and Grace Thavenet) and sister (Joan Kittel). A Catholic mass will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Resurrection Catholic Church, 4110 Cannon Road, Grand Island, NE. Father Vijumon Choorackal will officiate. Burial of ashes will take place immediately following the ceremony, at Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Resurrection Catholic Church, Grand Island, NE.
