Geraldine D Terry

Geraldine D. Terry, age 84, of Grand Island, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at CHI Health St. Francis. Geraldine was born on May 26, 1941, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Julius and Violet (Diehl) Smith. She was raised and received her education in the Maxwell area. Geraldine was first united in marriage to Larry Hobbs. From this union were born three children: daughters Tamela (Trevor) Tickle and Tonja (Dodd) Cox, and son Todd Hobbs. Later in life, Geraldine found love again and was united in marriage to Bill Terry. Together they welcomed two more children: Traci (Louie) Florez Jr. and son Trinity (Tracy) Terry. Throughout her life, Geraldine lived in North Platte and Ogallala before settling in Grand Island. She dedicated many years to her work as a cook at Riverside Lodge, where she touched countless lives through her culinary skills. Geraldine, affectionately known as Geri, had a deep love for music, particularly enjoying the Gaithers, and she cherished attending performances by Joseph Hall whenever possible. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, which was the heart of her joy and happiness. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., at the Ramada Inn in Grand Island, Nebraska. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Tonja (Dodd) Cox of Grand Island; Todd Hobbs of Red Cloud; Traci (Louie) Florez Jr. of Omaha; and Trinity and Tracy Terry of Aspen, Colorado. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tammy (Dodie) Dexter; Sarah (Bobby) Meyer; Katie Roth; Jenni Williams; Britney Williams and her companion, Josh Hicks; Courtney Shafer; KyLea (Skyler) Wissing; Damon (Sonja) Hobbs; Derek Hobbs; Devon Hobbs; Skyler Suck and his companion, Ashley Krowlikowski; Noah Suck; Tyjona Suck; Gavin Terry; Austin Florez; and Christian Florez and his companion, Amanda Texo. She was blessed with numerous great-grandchildren: Teddy and Danielle Dexter; Georgia, Sarah, and Bobby Meyer; Tyler and Tenley Roth; Preslii Herrick; Jhett Williams; Joshlyn and Londyn Hicks; Kyrni Harring; Kielea, Bently, and Bracyn Shafer; Lilly, DJ, and Brody Hobbs; Audryna Scheer; Marleigh Hobbs; Avianna Vaughn; Elijah Florez; and Kingsley Florez. Geraldine is also survived by her siblings, Douglas Smith and Mary Adams, both of Arizona. ; many special nieces and nephews; and special friends, Connie Rookstool, Josh Rookstool, Bev Swanson, and Amanda Landers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tamela Tickle; her grandson, Isaac Williams; and her brothers, Jack Florendo and Gary Smith. Some people are born into comfort. Some are born into strength. We were blessed with a mother who showed us what love looks like in action — steady, sacrificial, and unconditional. She didn’t just tell us how to be strong… she lived it every single day. Through hard seasons, quiet sacrifices, and moments no one else ever saw, she showed up. Over and over again. She taught us compassion, resilience, and how to love deeply — even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard. Her hands may look worn, but they held our family together with grace, patience, and faith. We are who we are because of her. Forever grateful. Forever honored. Forever her children. ♥
