Jerry Luhn

Jerry Luhn, 79, of Cairo passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Gathering of friends and family will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 6th at All Faiths Funeral Home, casual dress is requested by the family in Jerry’s honor. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Cairo with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army and United Veteran’s Honor Guard. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements; memorials are suggested to Jerry’s family for future designation. Jerry was born on April 16, 1946, in Grand Island, son of Wilford and Lelia (Lincoln) Luhn. He was raised on the family farm outside of Cairo. Jerry attended District 59 School and graduated from Cairo High School in 1964. In December of 1965 he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served overseas until his honorable discharge in November 1967. On June 28, 1969, he married Lois Lorenzen, they settled on the family farm near Cairo and raised their three sons. Jerry was on the road crew that built I-80 in central Nebraska. He was employed by Missouri Valley Construction, Cornhusker Army Ammunitions Plant, Cairo Plumbing and most recent, Case New Holland. Jerry enjoyed creating and fixing whatever he could get his hands on. He built model trains and RC planes. He restored tractors and GMC trucks, enjoyed woodworking and growing vegetables. Jerry loved having his grandkids help with all his projects and planting his extensive garden. Jerry was a Husker fan and would have his favorite radio station on during any Husker game. Jerry is survived by his wife, Lois; sons, Phil Luhn, Jeremy Luhn and Clint Luhn; grandchildren, Jessica (Leighton) Repp, Kaitlyn (Zach) Sheid, Natalie Luhn, Blake Luhn, Hannah Luhn, Kylie Luhn, and Jimmy Smalls; great-grandchildren, Dani, Payton and Jackson; brother, Francis (Marcie) Luhn; sister, Karon Rath and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents and parents-in-law; grandson, Grant Luhn; brother, Sherman Luhn; sisters-in-law, Linda Luhn and Linda Lorenzen; niece, Kim Vos.
