Larry Dean Cornelius

Larry Dean Cornelius, age 76, of Grand Island, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 23rd at 10am at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Father Jimmy Beran celebrant. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22nd from 5-7pm at All Faiths Funeral Home followed by a wake service at 7pm. Interment will take place at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Food Pantry, Grand Island Central Catholic Schools and St. Mary’s Cathedral. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences can be left at www.giallfaiths.com. Larry was born on October 16, 1949 in Grand Island to Jerry and Vernabell (Livingston) Cornelius. He attended District 29 school before graduating from Northwest High School in 1968. While in High School he helped on several farms around the area. Larry then moved to Denver to a trade school for drafting. On May 23, 1970 he was united in marriage to Ellie Anderson. To this union two children were born. The couple raised their family in Grand Island. Larry worked for Redman Industries and then with the City of Grand Island Public Works as a drafting engineer aid for 42 years, before retiring in 2012. After he retired, he helped Donna, his daughter in-law with her home improvement business. Larry and his family enjoyed taking trips to Colorado to ski and made many memories. He liked to go camping, boating, fishing and deer hunting. Larry could be found relaxing to an old western movie with a cold beer. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, and even strangers. He was a jack of all trades and could help with everything from home projects to cars. He was an usher at St. Mary’s Cathedral for 40 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ellie Cornelius of Grand Island; children, Paul (Donna) Cornelius of Phillips and Rose (Will) Saalfeld of Lincoln; siblings, Rick (Kathy) Cornelius of Grand Island, Mike (Colleen) Cornelius of Ravenna, Carol (Bob) Heinen of Grand Island and Diane (Dave) Spotanski of St. Libory; brothers and sisters in-law, Larry (Pat) Anderson of Grand Island, Marvin (Marsha) Anderson of Grand Island, Ron (Pam) Anderson of O’Neill, Joe Anderson of Grand Island, Marilyn Jacobson of Denver, Rose Marie (Rusty) McPhillips of Nebraska City, Sue (Brad) Czaplewski of Grand Island, Linda (John) Berry of Carter Lake, IA and Helen (Steve) Parr of Roseland; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; uncle and aunt, Junior and Maxine Livingston; cousins, Roger and Ronnie Livingston; nephew, Bradley Czaplewski Jr. and great nephew, Brennan Villatoro.
