(Lory) Lorayne A. Wrenn, 89 of Grand Island died Friday, January 10, 2014 at Riverside Lodge. (Lory) Lorayne A. WrennCelebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island. Reverend Caroline Price-Gibson will officiate. Entombment of ashes will take place prior to service time in the church’s columbarium. To honor Lory’s wishes cremation has taken place. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family. Mrs. Wrenn was born March 5, 1924 at Sioux City, IA the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J.H. Davis. She is preceded in death by her husband, Van C. Wrenn, Jr.; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Charles and Betty Brown and longtime friend, Lawrence Huwaldt. Survivors include children and their spouses, Kathleen and Gene Gosch of Kearney, Linda and Chuck Pohlman of Norfolk, Jane and Rod Gangwish of Shelton, Van and Cindy Wrenn of Omaha and Sara and Rob Mitchell of Omaha. Those also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren and their spouses, Philip and Allie Gosch, Alyssa White, Scott and Moriah Pohlman, Bryan and Nydia Pohlman, Dr. Garrett and Monique Pohlman, Emily and Mike Ehle, John Gangwish, Erin and Patrick Jones, Steve and Meggan Gangwish, Andrew and Bailey Wrenn, Geoff Wrenn, Michael Wrenn, Matthew Mitchell, Laura Mitchell and William Mitchell and twelve great-grandchildren. Lory was raised at Sioux City, IA and later attended the University of Minnesota. On December 8, 1943 she was united in marriage to Van C. Wrenn in Sioux City. They lived in Ames, IA and Grand Island. Lory was employed by the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, Hornady Manufacturing and then retired from New Holland. Lory was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church having served as an officer on the Session. For over 40 years she faithfully made hospital calls and at area care facilities to visit Presbyterians offering prayer and concern. She was known for her ministry of food, delivering casseroles, and pies or twice baked potatoes to neighbors, those who were sick, recuperating or grieving. She was active in P.E.O., Book Club and playing bridge and thoroughly enjoyed her years as the Kindergarten Grandma at St. Libory School. She and her husband had been active as Red Cross worldwide disaster volunteers, traveling to Florida after hurricane Andrew, Guam following a typhoon and New York City after September 11th. Lory believed in actively living her faith and using her daily walk as a servant to others. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were all very special to her and she loved "bragging” about them! Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church.
