Peggy Mae (nee Jacobson) Cottier July 23, 1949 - August 26, 2026 Peggy Mae Cottier, 77, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026. A funeral service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, September 1st at 1pm at All Faiths Funeral Home with Dan Naranjo officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11am. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Military Women’s Memorial (womensmemorial.org) or the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences can be left at www.giallfaiths.com. Peggy was born on July 23, 1949, in Grand Island to Gustav “Gus” and Vera (Miller) Jacobson. She grew up on a farm near St. Libory and graduated from St. Paul High School with the class of 1967. Peggy lived a life filled with strength, dedication, adventure, and above all, love for her family. On August 14, 1967, she enlisted in the United States Army, where she proudly served for three years. During her military service, she was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington DC and later at Camp Zama, Japan where she worked as a teletypist. She was honorably discharged on August 7, 1970. Her service was a proud chapter of her life and reflected the independence, determination, and resilience that would remain hallmarks of who she was. After leaving the military, Peggy worked 10 years at Kriz Davis, performing many administrative functions. Later she began a career with the United States Postal Service in Sidney. For more than 25 years, she faithfully carried mail, on foot, serving her community with dedication and a strong work ethic. She retired in 2009, leaving behind a career that reflected her perseverance and commitment. Peggy was previously married to Joe Lempke and although their marriage ended in divorce, together they welcomed four children, Bobby, Christy, Rochelle and Jacob. In 2003, Peggy married Raymond Cottier in Sidney, Nebraska, beginning another meaningful chapter of her life. Peggy leaves behind husband, Raymond Cottier of Gurly son, Bobby “Rob” (Michelle) Lempke of San Antonio and their children, David, Nathaniel and Robyn daughter, Christy Wettlauffer (Eric) of Lincoln and Christy’s daughters, Courtney (Blake) Eitzmann and their daughters, Maggie, Merrit and Sophie and Sidney Wettlaufer daughter, Rochelle (Ronald) Powers of Grand Island and Rochelle’s daughters, Rylea Bunner (fiancé, Jake Lowery) and her daughter, Raylin and Jordan Bunner (partner, Cam Minard) and her daughter, Isadora, and Tiffany (Roman) Powers son, Jacob (Nikki) Lempke of Sidney brother, Dennis (Joy) Jacobson of St. Libory sister, Susie Kully of Grand Island stepson, Michael Cottier of Sidney beloved nieces and nephews extended family and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother in-law, Louise and Bob Williams and brother in-law, Mike Kully. Peggy loved to travel, explore new places, and create lasting memories. Her adventurous spirit and appreciation for life, people, and meaningful experiences touched everyone around her. Above all, Peggy cherished her family deeply. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her strength, courage, laughter, smile, stories, and unconditional love will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Though she is no longer with us, the love she shared will remain in the hearts and lives of all who knew her, treasured for generations to come. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
