Rhonda Lynn Bartling

Bartling, Rhonda Rhonda Lynn Bartling, 60, of Grand Island, NE died on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at her home, with her loving family by her side. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. Rev. Bob Rhodes will officiate. Burial will follow in Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Rhonda was born on September 10, 1953 in Liberal, KS to A.J. “Blackie” and Leona (Hall) Nelson. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Randy; children, Chad Bartling and significant other, Lisa Parriott of Syracuse, NE; Rachael Dvorak and significant other, Shane Bushhousen of Palmer; Jana Nuzum and husband, Brad of Grand Island; Danielle Christian and fiancé, Chris Higney of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, Jim (Colleen ) Billinger of Iola AR; Rocky (Emily) Nelson of Ft. Collins, Co; Jack Nelson of Phoenix, AZ; Buck Nelson of Phoenix, AZ; her twin sister, Rene Nelson and significant other Don Branstine of Liberal, KS; sister, Ramona (Nick) Schwindt of Liberal, KS; grandchildren, Tiffany, Grace and Kendall Bartling, Jayden, Reilly, Kadie and Jacob Dvorak, Lauren and Michael Drake, Chase Nuzum, Austin and Natalee Christian; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Caudle and Christopher Rey; her many day care children and her four legged friend, Princess Bo and aunt, Iona of Satanta. Rhonda is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jennifer and parents-in-law, Herman and Rose Bartling. She was raised in Liberal, KS where she graduated from Liberal High School in 1971. On July 27, 1985 she married Randy Bartling in Las Vegas, NV. Following their marriage they lived in Liberal, KS until moving to Grand Island in 1991. While living in Grand Island she was employed in the Long Term Care at Aurora Hospital, and then Nebraska Veterans Home until she retired due to health reasons. After retirement Rhonda found her true calling with in home day care, where she was known to all the kids as “Mimi.” Rhonda was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer for the Postal Service’s “Stamp Out Hunger Drive” and the MS Walk. Rhonda and Randy owned their own drag racing car and enjoyed watching NASCAR and NHRA, she was also an avid Nebraska Husker fan and Denver Bronco’s fan, but most of all she loved her family. A memorial fund will be established in Rhonda’s name.
