Thad Andrew Johnson

Thad Andrew Johnson, 43, of Grand Island, passed away on April 27, 2024 at The Meadows in Ashland. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5th from 2-4 pm at All Faiths Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Monday, May 6th at 10 am, also at the funeral home, with Dan Naranjo officiating. Florida State Seminoles apparel is suggested to be worn for both the visitation and service. Thad was born on January 20, 1981, in Grand Island, to Duane and Dee (Michel) Johnson. He was raised and received his education in the Grand Island area, graduating from Northwest High School in 1999. Sports was Thad’s interest in school, and football and soccer were his main course of studies, along with teaching and playing any kind of “ball” with his nieces and nephews. He still holds the records at Northwest for longest touchdown pass of 82 yards, as well as for field goal kicks. Thad spent most of his life working at Abbey Carpets N More, and more recently at Wave Pizza Company. Thad was baptized and confirmed into the Methodist faith. In his spare time, Thad enjoyed grilling and smoking meats, and playing sports. He was active in Grand Island Intermural Sports. He was the kicker in the Nebraska Shrine Football bowl game; and the goalie in the Nebraska Shrine Soccer bowl game in 1999. He was a lifelong Florida State Seminole fan. The family finds comfort in knowing he will now be hooking up with some of his favorites, Bobby Bowden, Brook Beringer, and Sam Foltz. Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Duane and Dee; siblings, Heath (Angie) Johnson, Lucy (RJ) Schuster; nieces and nephews, Calvin and Ellie Johnson, Dillion Sullivan, RonnieMae and August Schuster, Danyelle Schuster; and his belove furry companion, his dog, Jack. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, Jerry and Karin Torske, Larry and Wacko Debbie Latter, Neil and Sue Johnson, Denise Jones, Dennis and Zola Johnson, Doreen Kosmicki, Faith Nelson, Alan and Connie Johnson; and many cousins. Thad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Almira Michel, and Leonard and Viola Johnson; aunts and uncles, Pat and Darla Evans, Doug Michel; and dogs, Maggie and Noles. Memorials are suggested to the family. All memorials will be used as a donation being presented at the 25th anniversary of the Shrine bowl Thad played in.
