Thomas "Tom" E. Rohrbough

Thomas “Tom” E. Rohrbough, age 86, of Grand Island, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Regional Hospital in Grand Island. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 14th at 1pm at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Pavuk officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13th from 5-7pm at All Faiths Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Condolences can be left at www.giallfaiths.com. There will be a 2nd service held on Thursday, January 16th at 11am at Augustana Lutheran Church in Omaha with burial being at Evergreen Cemetery in Omaha. Visitation in Omaha will be Wednesday, January 15th from 5pm-7pm at John A Gentleman Mortuary on 72nd street. Thomas was born on October 31, 1938 in Omaha to John S. and Irene (Schwantje) Rohrbough. He grew up in Omaha and attended Adams Elementary School and Benson High School, graduating in 1956. Tom enlisted in the United Sates Air Force in June of 1957 and was honorably discharged in June of 1961. During his time in the service, he spent 26 months in England where he refueled 447 bombers. In his down time, he enjoyed traveling around Europe getting to see many places including Paris, Athens, and Munich. After returning to Omaha from the Air Force he began working for MUD in 1961. He began his career with the construction and utility department before transferring to the water treatment plant. He was a dedicated employee for almost 40 years and retired in September of 2000. Tom was united in marriage to Ethel Baxter on June 7, 1964. She passed away on December 16, 1987. He was then united in marriage to Marlene (Halstead) Moeller on April 25, 1992, to this union he gained two sons. Tom enjoyed bowling, being outdoors, working in his yard and gardening. He also continued his love of traveling and went to Branson once a year, visited his brother in Tampa, FL for Thanksgiving yearly, Las Vegas, Orlando and Victoria Garden in British Columbia. He loved getting to spend time with his family and friends and seeing new places. Tom was a member of the Omaha Walking Club and many days would walk over 2 miles. He was also a member of several gardening clubs. Those left to cherish Tom’s memory include his wife, Marlene; step-sons, Ricky Moeller of Grand Island and Randy (Dana) Moeller of Doniphan; grandchildren, Eric (Alyssa) Moeller, Jana (James) Manganaro, Tyler Moeller (Kelly Wang), Joshua Moeller (Sienna Athy) and Jessica (Will) Wood; 3 great-grandsons; 3 great-granddaughters; cousin, Rob Rohrbough; sisters in-law, Charlene Yonker and Rae Jeanne Bamesberger; nephews, Bill Rohrbough, Chris Rossitto, Rodney (Amy) Halstead, Curtis Humiston, Todd Humiston (Connie), David Yonker, Jeff Yonker, Brett Bamesberger (Julie Selko); nieces, Beverly Denman, Ilene Denman Butler (Bob), Sherrill (Kent) Baumfalk, Jerri (David) Hamm, Roxanne (Dave) Kriens, Monica (Ed) Steenburg, Teresa (Steve) Cole, Tina (Tony) Hoffman and Laura (Brent) Dawson and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John S. and Irene (Schwantje) Rohrbough; first wife, Ethel (Baxter) Rohrbough; brother, Steve (Mona) Rohrbough; sisters in-law, Shirley (John) Rossitto, Janet (Charlie) Herndon and Sheila (Marvin) Humiston; brothers in-law, Robert (LaDonna) Halstead and Bill Bamesberger; nephews, Douglas Halstead, Drue Bamesberger and Barry Bamesberger.
